Erasmus Dam Speedway witness to stabbings

By Xpress Reporter

Two men were involved in a fight that led to both being stabbed in what can be described as a scene from a horror movie around the infamous Erasmus Dam Speedway on Saturday, 5 May 2012.
In a twist of fate, the Xpress Times happened to be there in the middle of the skirmish when the stabbings took place.
The fight initially started out as an all out slugfest then got ugly when one man broke a bottle whilst the other, in retaliation took out a knife.
The guy with the knife (Man A) was actually outnumbered as he had to take on the other man (Man B) and his girlfriend.
The slugfest moved to the road when Man B ‘bum-rushed’ (spear tackled) Man A with a clinch then proceeded to stab him all over his body.
This happened in the middle of the Erasmus Dam Speedway and these two men were lucky when two vehicles from opposite directions, heading towards them at high velocity, came to a screeching halt.
The stabbing continued when Man A kept on coming towards the man with the bottle and managed to stab Man B in the forehead with the knife ‘stuck’ an inch deep.
Man A was on his last legs when he went into a building and collapsed after the brutal stabbing, however according to another eyewitness he was beaten senseless while unconscious until the police vehicles and the paramedics arrived.
The Xpress Times were at the scene with local paramedics when Man A was found to have his right eye allegedly gouged / stabbed out and in a pool of blood. He sustained stab wounds close to his sternum (chest area), his back and approximately three to the head area.
Another eyewitness interviewed claimed he pulled the knife out of Man B’s forehead upon request.
It is understood from eyewitnesses interviewed at the scene that both the men were no strangers to each other.
